Consistency, when it comes to getting fit, is the key. That’s why, with how difficult it may sound, its important to learn how to get more consistent working out.
Maybe your goal isn’t to get a six pack or have a 40 inch vertical jump, you might just want to lose 10 lbs. You aren’t going to get there without a regular plan.
I’m going to break down 3 steps to show you exactly how to get more consistent working out.
Enjoy it
Nothing is going to make you quit faster then something you hate doing. If you exercise this way, its not going to last long.
There is more than one path to reach a goal, look for the one that lets you enjoy the journey. When you workout you have the luxury of deciding what exercises you do.
You don’t have to lift heavy things, you don’t have to go on long runs, you do whatever you choose. I encourage you to try lots of activities, pick the one that you can see yourself doing long term.
If you don’t know where to start or really definitely know you don’t want to lift weights, try out a sport. One like basketball or soccer allows you practice by yourself while getting a great sweat in.
There a myriad of possibilities for you to choose from, no excuses!
Realistic Goals
Depending on your goal, you might have a long journey ahead of you. You need to understand that. Don’t try to rush a 50 pound weight loss into 1 month.
Be realistic about your goals, if you set the bar way to high, you may never reach it and thus will get discouraged and give up. At the end of the day, in most situations, it wont matter how long you took , once you are done you will be happy you took your time and did things the right way.
You also want to make sure that aren’t pushing yourself to the limit day in day out 24/7. Yes, its important to work hard and focused.
Find time to relax and too recover as well, without it, you can burn out and not find the motivation to keep going.
Plan
Plan and envision how you want your journey to go.
Without a plan, you can end up doing things the wrong way. You can procrastinate your workouts. And of course, you won’t be able to figure out how to be consistent working out.
Start small, if you want to lose weight, plan on losing half a pound to 1 pound a week. Begin by doing light 30 minute workouts.
So decide what you want to do. Get out a workout planner, a calendar, your phone, or just a piece of paper and choose what days and at what time to have your workouts.
Make sure you are comfortable with the times you chose and that nothing else can get in the way.
Stick to the plan and make adjustments when need be.
It is way easier then trying to figure out the 10 exercises you want to 5 minutes before your workout.
An example workout schedule for those that don’t know where to start could look something like this;
Monday– 6:00 am 30 minutes light workout
Tuesday-6:00 am 15 minute brisk walk
Wednesday– 6:00 am 30 minute like workout
Thursday– 6:00 am 15 minute brisk walk
Friday– 6:00 am 30 minutes light workout
Weekend – Rest
See how easy it is?
Highly recommend that you drop what you are doing and make yours right now!
Conclusion
Discovering how to be consistent working out is a essential piece of long term health.
You want to make sure you actually enjoy the process. Don’t just walk through the motions of some workout you saw online even though you hate it.
Be realistic about what you want and when you want it done. You aren’t going to lose 10 pounds in a day, so don’t set yourself up for disappointment.
Finally, have a plan! Figure out all the things you want done, schedule them and stick to it!
Good luck!
